Some hikes begin long before the first step on the trail. The route to Rifugio Boz is one of them: the access from Mezzano into the narrow and striking Val Noana already sets the tone, leading into a secluded, dramatic landscape where the road winds between steep slopes and canyon-like views.
After passing the artificial lake dam and Rifugio Fonteghi, the road continues, still very narrow, first on asphalt and then on a dirt surface, until reaching the parking area for the hut. From here, a sign immediately points the way, but rather than following the forest road all the way, this route takes trail 727A, climbing the left orographic side of Val Neva.
The climb starts with character. The path rises steadily through spruce and larch woods, offering that deep sense of immersion that makes mountain hikes feel genuine and rewarding. After the first section, the trail joins a forest road, which is followed for about one kilometre to Pinteri, reached roughly forty minutes from the parking area.
From Pinteri, the route leaves the dirt road and enters the forest again on trail 727A. The path alternates gentler stretches with steeper climbs, including a few short ups and downs that keep the hike varied and enjoyable. This section requires attention: the polished rocks can become very slippery when damp or wet, so careful footing is important.
At Nevette, around 1,586 metres, the trail rejoins the dirt road. From here, another steeper section gradually leads out of the forest, and the landscape begins to open up. Meadows appear, the gradient eases, and the impressive profile of Sass de Mura rises on the horizon, giving the final part of the ascent a truly memorable atmosphere.
The last climbs lead to the meadows surrounding the hut. Then, almost like a final reward, a short flat stretch brings you to the destination: Rifugio Boz, set in an open and beautiful position, ideal for stopping, looking around and enjoying the satisfaction of the ascent.

Their arrival was made even more enjoyable by the warm welcome of the hut managers, an excellent sandwich, and helpful indications about the surrounding peaks and possible hikes in the area.
